The National Action Plan for Open Research 2022-2030 was launched 21 November by the National Open Research Forum (NORF). In tandem with the six projects funded by the 2022 National Open Research Fund, the Action Plan outlines objectives and actions for the next chapter in Ireland’s transition towards open research.
HEAnet was awarded Action 6 – Shared Data Storage Pilot for the National Action Plan and have been awarded €183,000 for the pilot project we are leading with University College Cork (UCC), University College Dublin (UCD), South East Technological University (SETU), the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) and EUDAT, a European common data infrastructure, as partners.
The impact of Action 6 would allow the sharing of active research data both nationally and internationally, thus improving the quality and impact of research outputs. The project will deliver a specification for a national production quality service, with a sustainable business model, accessible by all researchers in Ireland.
