This session with Niamh Murphy (Digital Preservation Librarian, UCD Library) will provide a comprehensive introduction to digital preservation – what it is, why it matters, and key concepts and terminology, such as bitstream preservation, checksum, fixity, etc. Additionally, she will discuss ongoing work within UCD Library, including an audit of digital holdings and preservation capabilities, and how this in turn will feed into the long-term planning for digital preservation in this institution.
